Thomas Muller wants to win UEFA Champions League this season with Bayern - UCL News
Bayern Munich midfielder Thomas Muller has revealed his desire to win the Champions League this season. The player wishes to lift the European crown at his home ground which will host the final on May 19, 2012.
Muller showed pleasure at his team’s current form and rated them as one of the favourites to win both the Bundesliga and Champions League. He was of the view that the Reds are unstoppable this term and could easily march into final of the competition.
The player wished to play the final in front of vociferous home fans and lift the crown for which they had been waiting anxiously. Muller reckoned that if the Bavarian giants maintain the same form and consistency as they had been showing throughout, there
is no reason for them to miss out on this glorious opportunity.
Muller also praised his manager Jupp Heynckes for the amount of effort he has put in since his arrival during summer. The 22-year-old thought that Bayern would not have been better served had it been Heynckes in place of Louis van Gaal.
This is Heynckes’ third managerial spell at Allianz-Arena, having previously served from 1987-1991 and then in 2009. The tactician has already made a massive difference in the club’s setup and thinking as Bayern find themselves on top of both the Bundesliga
and Champions League.
Muller, while talking to Bild regarding his desire, further enthused, "There is something special this year because the [Champions League] final is in our own arena. Of course we want to win it. On home soil, it would be a dream come true. But we should
not dream about it and instead do our homework."
He concluded his remarks by saying, "It currently feels less strenuous than in games in which the play is always end-to-end. We are quick in winning the ball back because we exert so much pressure, and it saves us the long runs. I've always had [Borussia]
Dortmund as our main competition."
Bayern are currently sitting atop the league table with 25 points from 11 games and will next be seen in action on Sunday, November 6, at SGL arena.
