What did Thomas Paine's statement "The cause of america is in a great measure the cause of all mankind" mean when he wrote it?

His statement mean that the entire idea behind America was the basic idea of all mankind.  Throughout time mankind struggled for fair judgement and self-rule.  This was also the case with America.  America no longer desired the judgement of England and felt the need for self-government and control.


  2. As a newly arrived immigrant to the USA, Paine envisioned the country serving, not only as a refuge, but also as a world model, and in time a champion, of freedom and republican democracy.

  3. The cause of America was freedom from tyranny and goverment where the people did not have a say
