Thomas Rouxel casts out Ramazan Ozturk in 2013 European Club Championships – Badminton news
Men’s Singles shuttler Thomas Rouxel played impeccable badminton in the elimination round of European Club Championships and thrashed Ramazan Ozturk on May 31, 2013.
This 41-minute tussle was staged at the local badminton arena of Beauvais, France and it remained in the full swing until the final score of 21-18 and 21-19.
Thomas and Ramazan, who were representing Egospor and BC Chambly Oise badminton club respectively, mesmerized the crowd with a stunning performance. They earned great deal of admiration for showing commendable fighting spirit in both sets.
The French shuttler Thomas ruled the court in first set of the match and then sealed a straight-set victory by overpowering his competitor also in the following game.
He laid foundation of his supremacy straight away in the beginning of first set. He prevailed in few back-to-back rallies and established a decent lead in no time. This flurry of productive strokes helped him to keep Ramazan at the lower end.
However, things changed immediately after the interval as the Turkish campaigner switched on the best in him and brought the contest to right balance. Ramazan matched his rival’s skills in all departments of the game and remained close on the points table.
The game turned into the survival of the fittest war when both contenders were standing equal in third quarter of the set.
At this stage, Thomas played with great precision and saved the honour with a tight yet favourable score of 21-18. This first set win boosted his confidence and he started the following game with a psychological edge.
Initially, he did not face any trouble and piled up a respectable total in no time. He kept on moving forward at steady pace and it was felt that he will swept the table with great ease.
However, Ramazan performed exceptionally well in latter part of the game and made this contest memorable.
Both contenders were standing close on the points table in third quarter of the set when Thomas pocketed few consecutive points and gained a decent advantage of two points. He maintained that lead till the game point situation and won this match with 21-19
margin.
