Thomas Sorensen to be fit against Bolton Wanderers

Thomas Sorensen, the goalkeeper for Stoke City is hoping that he will be fit in time to play this weekend as the Premier League returns to action after the international break.
The veteran goalkeeper was left out of Denmark’s national team for the Euro 2012 qualifier against Cyprus. He had injured himself in training a week earlier and was suffering from a muscle problem.
Sorensen decided to play despite suffering pain in the match against Portugal; he could not sustain the strain on his hip muscles and had to be withdrawn. Denmark ended up losing the match 2-1 in the end. However the goalkeeper
is hopeful that he will be able to make it for the away match against Bolton Wanderers this weekend.
"It is a small tear in the hip area and an ultrasound scan showed there was some bleeding," he said.
"I'm walking all right, but it's the explosive work, like kicking and sprinting, which is a problem. The doctor in Denmark told me this injury usually lasts a week so there shouldn't be a problem for the weekend”.
He went on to say that coming home in the middle of international games was not an easy decision for him, but he had to make the call as he could not risk being out for longer period. Stoke City lost their first 3 games of the
season, but have won their last 2 and will be looking to make it 3 out of 3 against Bolton this weekend. Sorensen said that start of the season was difficult, but the team has hit good form of late, and he wishes to be part of the team so that he can help
them complete a hat trick of wins. He said that the win against Blackburn Rovers was a result of a well collaborated team effort, and that has given the team immense confidence.
Meanwhile Aston Villa manager Gerard Houllier has said that every player in his team is equally important, and will have to give his 100% for the team’s cause. Houllier said that he wants to make sure that he utilizes the squad
to its full potential, as the number of games in a season can take a toll on the team.
The former Liverpool boss said that he has been impressed by the improvement his team has shown in last few games.  He added that his team is fully ready and looking forward to the all important clash against the champions and
league leaders Chelsea.
The manager said that there are 25 players in the squad, and not every player is involved every week, but that does not mean that the ones left behind are any less important to the cause. Houllier added that rotating players wisely
is an important task and needs to be carried out cleverly. He went on to say that if he can make sure that, he can use all of his 25 players to the best of their ability and there is no reason why he cannot achieve the goal set for the season.
The Frenchman said that at times there are some players in the squad, who do not get a game for 2 or 3 weeks. But it is the job of the manager to keep them motivated and hungry for action, he added that anyone from the squad can
come up and deliver on his day and be a hero for the team.
Aston Villa is currently on 8th spot in the league table, with 10 points from 7 games.  They have won 3 and lost 3 while one game has ended in a draw this season.
