Thomas Strunz: Bayern are hungry to win silverware, lucky to have parted ways with Louis van Gaal
The former Bayern Munich midfielder, Thomas Strunz, has sent a warning signal to Bayern’s competitors, advising them to avoid the hungry German outfit this season. He also hailed the Bavarian officials for appointing Jupp Heynckes as their manager in place
of underperforming Louis van Gaal.
Thomas expressed delight at Bayern’s current form and tipped them as certain favourites to win both the Bundesliga and Champions League. He thought that Heynckes has done splendidly well until now and urged him to lead the hungry Reds to much needed silverware.
Bayern are currently fresh from a 4-0 drubbing of their rivals, FC Nurnberg, and lead the Bundesliga standings with 25 points from 11 games. Heynckes’ troops are also atop the Champions League Group A, with two wins from three outings.
Strunz wished success to his former club, encouraging them to break silverware drought in the most dominant manner. Apart from the Champions League and Bundesliga, Bayern have also made their way into the third round of DFB Pokal, with the former midfielder
expecting nothing less than a treble this term.
The former German international also commented on the appointment of Jupp Heynckes as the club’s manager. He thought that the Bavarians are lucky to have such an experienced manager. Thomas believed that it is the club’s best chance to win silverware under
Heynckes, and that the players shouldn’t get complacent at any stage of the current campaign.
While talking to Goal.com about Bayern’s trophy drought, the 43-year-old concluded by saying, "The team is hungry for success. The combination of team, new coach - and the events of last season may provide a lot of momentum. The club will benefit at least

Strunz represented http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 for nine years (1990-1999) and earned 41 international caps during that period. The former player also spent eight years at Allianz-Arena in two different spells playing for Bayern Munich.
