This draw has ensured Mainz of their place in the top division for next season and at the same time, ended Wolfsburg hopes of playing in Europe. The tactician mentioned that his team played well throughout the game and probably
deserved more than a point at home.
Tuchel praised his side for staying firm in front of a resilient Wolfsburg attack and showed his satisfaction after Mainz ensured survival. He applauded the way his players reacted to the criticism and vows to take his team to
the next level from next season onwards.
While talking to fifa.com, the 38-year-old further added: "It was not a typical goalless draw, but I can live with it. I am delighted that we are now safe. We played a good game for long periods and tried to create chances out
of our possession.”
On the other hand, the boss also reserved praise for his opponents who also defended brilliantly on the night. He admitted that Felix Magath’s men were determined and perhaps both teams deserved to end up on even terms.
"Wolfsburg defended very attentively and we also had to be alert as we searched for a goal. We knew that beforehand and I am pleased with my side's attentiveness and their performance."
On the other hand, Wolfsburg manager showed his satisfaction after his side managed to squeeze out a draw away from home. He reserved grievances at not being able to qualify for a place in Europe but reckons that his players showed
immense improvement after a disappointing last few weeks in the competition.
Mainz are currently 11th in the league standings with 38 points while Die Wolfe are 10th with 41. The O-Fives will next be in action against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hamburger-SV-c39485 while Magath’s men take on Werder Bremen on Saturday,
