from the loss to Bayern Munich at home earlier this weekend.
Tuchel claimed that his side lacked the quality and were outplayed by Schalke. He hailed the home side and admitted that the team has some great players, who took the game away from Mainz.
The boss lamented the missed opportunities and admitted that you have to capitalise on the limited opportunities if the opposition is of the stature of Schalke. The tactician stressed that the team clearly lacked the creativity
as no major goalscoring opportunity came their way in the 90 minutes.
“We lacked penetration and ambition against a Schalke side full of talented individual players. We won the ball twice, had decent chances to counter attack but didn’t make anything out of it. Those moves won’t appear in any highlights
report as we failed to produce any goalscoring opportunities,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, Schalke manager Huub Stevens is satisfied with the 3-0 win and wants the team to carry on with the brilliant football they have been playing recently. The boss has called for consistency in performances and wants
the players to work hard to achieve the goals during the course of the season.
“But we won. And that’s important. What’s the right way of describing it? Three points in the bag, brush yourself down and carry on. They made it difficult for us. We’ll have to be on our toes again,” he concluded.
