Thomaz Bellucci rains misery on Alejandro Falla in 2nd round – Farmers Classic 2011
One the most vicious beating was delivered to Alejandro Falla of Columbia when he played his 2nd round match today against the Brazilian Thomaz Bellucci. The match was played on the hard courts of LA Tennis Center. The
Farmers Classic 2011 blazed up by the excruciating 6-0, 6-1 beating by the Brazilian to the Columbian.
Alejandro Falla though ranked at world no.92 was good enough to beat the Brazilian but his dream was shattered. The 27-year-old left hander had his second meeting against the Brazilian and fell down on level terms in head-to-head
games.
The successor of the match, Thomaz Bellucci ranks at world No.34 at the young age of 23. The left hander started off in 2007 and banked 2 career titles since then. His 2nd round match was a display of accuracy and perfectionism.
Levelling the head-to-head scores with the Columbian, Bellucci secured his place in the quarter-finals with ease.
The match seemed easy for the Brazilian. Totalling 33 points in the first set, 14 service and 19 return points, world no.34 blazed 100 percent of his 2ndreturners. 80 percent of his 1st serve won him points.
The left hander broke the Columbian three times in the set with his forehands and backhands. The final set score was laughter, 6-0.
The second set was better fought by the Columbian. Better as in he at least won one game. Bellucci played like a maestro winning 27 points in total. The total included 12 service points and 15 returners. With 78 percent of his
1st serve points wins and 63 percent of his 2nd, the Brazilian broke the Columbian three times in the second set as well. The final score of the second set came up 6-1.
Thomaz Bellucci played like he had a laser guided weapon in his hand to direct all his shots. His perfection frustrated the Columbian making him play each return only to throw it out somewhere in the crowd. The epic display of
stupidity by the Columbian would certainly make him think before stepping in against any of the top players in the game.
For now Thomaz sits in the quarter-finals to play against Alex Bogomolov Jr., the American, for a spot in the semis.
