Thongchai Jaidee leads Alstom Open de France: Live leaderboard
Alstom Open de France has kicked off at the par-71 Le Golf National in Paris, France with a star-studded field. The European Tour event, carrying a purse of €3,000,000, is taking place with light wind blowing across towards the West,
which is forecast to pick up speed later in the day. Here is a quick look at the leaderboard.
Thongchai Jaidee smashed a score of 4-under par after fourteen holes to occupy the top most spot on the leaderboard. The veteran from Thailand teed-off from the front, clamped two birdies on the fourth and the seventh hole, and sealed
it with a score of 2-under.
On his way towards the back nine, the veteran fired two back-to-back birdies starting from par-4, 13th and elevated himself to the top most section of the leaderboard. The player, however, has six more holes to go till
he can confirm his place on the top.
An eight-way tie is seen for the second spot, which includes Rhys Davies. The 101-ranked player is one stroke behind the temporary leader, Jaidee. Davies chose to tee-off from the front and shot into the top after firing a good number
of birdies. He wrapped the front nine with three birdies and a score of 3-under par. The player is currently waiting to tee-off on the 12th hole.
David Horsey, who failed to save his title at the BMW International Open, kicked off with a poor start. The Englishman failed to comprehend the course and dropped two shots in the start, which left him standing with a score of 2-over-par,
37. Horsey seemed to recover fast on the front nine however, as the direction of the wind didn't bother him much here. Therefore, he clawed three birdies in the opening four holes and dragged his score back into the realms of par. The player has four more
holes to play.
His compatriot Mark Foster compiled a score of 1-under-par after playing eleven holes. The player double bogeyed the closing hole at the back and lost the edge earned from the sole birdie, which he carded in the start of the tournament.
