Thongchai Jaidee set his hopes high at the BMW PGA Championship – Golf news
Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand has set his sights on beating his career best 42ndin the Official World Golf Rankings, with a strong show at this week’s BMW PGA Championship.
Jaidee made it into the top-50 in the world rankings last week by finishing second at the Volvo World Match Play and is now among the strong additions to the European Tour’s flagship event at the Wentworth Club.
The winner of this year’s Maybank Malaysian Open, Kiradech Aphibarnrat, the two-time Asian Tour’s number one Jeev Milkha Singh, Indian youngster Gaganjeet Bhullar and Liang Wen-Chong of China are some other big
names from the Asian Tour, who have received a chance to compete in England.
Despite the fact the Jaidee lost to Graeme McDowell last week, he still managed to break the top-50 mark, which also allowed him to secure his spot in the US Open Championship, the second major golf championship
of the season.
“Of course, I was a little disappointed but very pleased to know I will now play in the US Open,” said Thongchai. “It is a nice reward after all. I was focussing on trying to win the Match Play and when I got
into the final I knew that whatever happened I would make a big jump up the World Rankings”.
“So overall it’s been a good week for me and I am very proud of how well I played, and then competing against a player like Graeme McDowell because he is a world class player and he showed that,” he added.
His best rankings in the world came in 2010 when he surged to the
Thongchai’s highest ranking in the world, 42nd, came in 2010 and is now hopeful to break that mark with a strong show in the upcoming events.

career so far, last of which came at the 2012 edition of the ISPS Handa Wales Open.
