Thongchai Jaidee wins his first European Tour outside Asia, Wales Open saw a future champion!
Thongchai Jaidee has won his first ever European Tour outside Asia with passion and aggressive play. This man has proved that talent and motivation when combined, gives out the best in a man.
Jaidee broke all odds and performed exceptionally well at the Wales Open. His level of play had class and precision which is a rare combination. He has proved that no boundary can restrict talent.
Jaidee started his professional career in 1999. He has single-handedly dominated the Asian Tour and grasped 13 wins on his name, confirming him the all time best player at the prestigious Asian Tour.
The European Tour has also been a haven for the Thai golfer, as he has lifted the European Tour trophy an impressive 5 times.
This time, Jaidee has grasped the European title outside Asia marking his 5th European victory and his first outside Asia.
The 42-year-old seemed delighted about his first win outside Asia and took it in high regards. The conditions at the Wales Open were tough and required plenty of experience for a golfer who has been playing all his life in the Asian circuit.
“I want to say thank-you to all my family, all the supporters and the sponsors here. Conditions were quite tough for me, I tried to hit everything on the fairway -- that's the main thing -- then hit the ball on the green. It was very, very tough for me,
not like Thailand” said the Wales Open winner.
His opponent Ross Fisher was fined because of slow play. Fisher was furious on being fined and called it ‘injustice’.
“I don't think it's justice, but there you go” said Fisher who was fined £6,000.
Fisher has been very slow in his pre-shots and struggled throughout the final play. His confused stroke play cost him the title and he was fined later on.
Jaidee, on the other hand, is looking promising after his first European Tour win outside Asia. He has proved that nationalities do not limit raw and pure talent. His form is magical and pours confidence, combined with his signature style of play.
Consistency is what the Thai golfer requires to reach the top of the rankings. If he sticks to his current level of play, he may be on the top very soon.
Congratulations Thongchai Jaidee!
