Thorbjorn Olesen on the top again at the Austrian Open
The Lyoness Open is in full swing. The biggest names in the world of golf are going head to head for the prestigious trophy.
This auspicious event is being held at the Diamond Country Club in Atzenbrugg, Austria. The event started on the 25th of July and is going to end on the 28th of July.
It has been a very interesting tournament thus far. The first three days involved great drama as the rain stopped the play on the first day and the damp conditions made it even harder to play on the course.
In the tournament, many players have successfully played some outstanding golf and have impressed the crowd. The list also includes the Dane professional golfer Thorbjorn Olesen.
Olesen had three magnificent days at the Diamond. His best round was the first one. On the first day, he managed to card eight birdies, four on the front nine and four on the back nine.
There were no eagles, bogeys or double bogeys for the day. These made his score eight-under par. The second round was not as good as the first one. Anyhow, it was still pretty decent.
He managed to score five birdies on the day. He also carded a bogey on the day, which came on the fifteenth hole. This was the only bogey of his tournament in the first three days.
Olesen’s last day was not that eventful. He only managed to card two birdies on the front nine, on the sixth and seventh hole. On the back nine, he scored two birdies as well, on the tenth and eleventh hole.
His day included no eagles, bogeys or double bogeys, which made his score four-under par for the day and his total score became sixteen-under par.
The 22-year-old was three strokes clear of the second position holder on the leaderboard, Rikard Karlberg. The rising star still thinks he should have had a greater margin and he missed many chances to widen the gap.
In an interview he said, “I didn't hit the ball as well I did on the first two days”.
“I still had some good opportunities – I could've taken a few more, but the fact that I’m feeling slightly disappointed with a 68 is probably a good sign, because it shows how well I’m playing and how high my expectations are,” he added.
