  1. they are getting faster becuase of selective breeding. the faster the horse the more its sperm or eggs are wanted. also they are sacrificing good bone structure for speed. all these horse are reaking theyr legs becuase they are breeding them to lighter bones. kinda like when you have a lighter metal for your bike frame.


  2. No, they are not. Decent records go back a couple of hundred years and selective breeding is increasing the number of horses available to try but not the speed. American horse races are dull using circular tracks and a restricted test of a horses ability.

If you look at how fast the horses used to run the Triple Crown races, you'll notice that the average time for the 10 furlongs of the Kentucky Derby has decreased over the years... they used to run in about 2:07 and now they run in 2:00 or a little more.  Even the great Citation only ran the Derby in 2:05 (although it was on an off track).  So, yes, thoroughbreds are getting faster.
