  1. Ive never ever heard of Thorowood

but Wintec is well know for its comfortablity and wear and tear.

    go wintec

  2. i have a wintec and it is very comfie i have never ridden in a thorowgood.

  3. wintec i have lessons in one, soooooooooo comfortable, and great on the horses back (cair panels)

    GOOD LUCK!!!!

  4. I have sat in both, ended up with the Wintec that ended up not fitting my horse because it was too narrow in the back for him. The gullet system only changes the front of the saddle not the back. However I LOVED riding in it, he however did not. If you have a hard to fit horse, Thorowgood saddles offer more options because the have draft, cob and horse saddles and offer a shim system to change the width of the whole channel.

Overall I think that Wintec saddles look more like traditional leather because of the equileather. Thorowgood still uses cloth, cordura type material on their saddles. Both allow you the option of black or brown so if you do hunters or something they can accommodate the traditional look you'll need.

Yo would really need to ride in both to see if they help or hinder your position, and fit your horse. I have heard good things about both so its just preference and fit you'd have to worry about.

For those who have never heard of Thorowgood. http://www.thorowgood.com/

  5. I've never even heard of Thorowgood, but I've heard very good things from Wintec.

I actually think I rode in a Wintec once, I remember it being very soft on the bum.

    Good luck!

  6. Wintec definitely.

Wintec was the first to come out with the Easy Change Gullet System, which gives you the ability to change the gullet or tree size of your saddle from horse to horse....or for when your horses back changes and grows.

Also they invented the CAIR panels. Sealed air panels which conform and move along with your horses back while he moves to alleviate pressure points.

Thorogood has basically tried to bite off Wintec doing their own version in a cheaper manner.

Wintec also gives you a lifetime guarantee on the CAIR panels and a life time guarantee on the tree of the saddle.

Wintec is also the maker of the high end Bates saddle--they use the same tree and same technology (easy change and CAIR) for the Bates. So you get the technology you find in a $2000 saddle for the price of a Wintec!!
