Thorpe Bay up for cornering Faraway in the Download The New Marriott Golf App Selling Stakes at Lingfield
The Class 6 Download The New Marriott Golf App Selling Stakes are to be staged at Lingfield over six furlongs on Monday, 5th March. The race has a highly versatile lineup of eight horses who will contest for the £1, 704 purse.
Among the lineup the most competitive horse is Thorpe Bay, Piccolo’s three-year-old bay gelding out of mare My Valentina. Under training Conor Dore, the three-year-old has improved drastically through the three starts that he made during the 2012 season.
He cracked into the new season by taking part in the Place Only Betting At Bluesq.Com Maiden Stakes on 20th January at Lingfield over five furlongs. He was the last horse to leave the field while the race was won by Pucon and the 7/4 favourite,
Place That Face, was the runner up of the race.
Almost after a week, on 27th January, Thorpe Bay gave a memorable performance in the Marsh Green Claiming Stakes at Lingfield over five furlongs. The outcome of the race was in the favour of the 5/6 favourite winner of the race, Redair. He was
very closely being followed by Thorpe Bay who strode over the length that kept him away from victory and qualified as the runner up.
Eventually he enjoyed success in the Membership Of Southwell Golf Club Claiming Stakes on 16th February at Southwell over six furlongs. He was victorious on the field set for five and led by 3 ½ lengths.
One More Roman was the runner up while Faraway secured the third slot for himself. The 11/8 favourite of the race, Ishiamiracle, stationed fourth in line after the winner.
Today Thorpe Bay is ready for his fourth outing of the new season and needs to grab on to the chance of crediting the second victory of the new season against his name.
In Thorpe Bay’s last start, Faraway finished third, the three-year-old bay colt trained by Ronald Harris has already won the race a chance twelve months before and ended up stamping it. Ever since then, his trainers have changed twice, William Haggas till
2nd July 2011 and then David Evans conditioned him till 21st December 2011.
During the course of the year, Thorpe Bay has defeated Faraway once. If winning the race last year will have more impact or losing to Thorpe Bay will turn out to be more influential, will unfold soon.
