Rothosen managed a vital 1-0 win at FC Kaiserslautern on Saturday, March 31. Marcell Jansen’s effort in the first-half proved to be the decider as Hamburg secured their seventh win of the ongoing season.
The win took The Red Shorts to 15th place on the Bundesliga standings table and the victory has taken the club two points away from the relegation zone.
Fink claimed that Hamburg are certainly fighting the relegation battle and are far from safety despite the win over Kaiserslautern this weekend. He insisted that the remaining six games of the season are crucial for his side as
winning most of them would ensure a place in the first division next season.
The manager regarded the last six games as ‘Cup finals’ and insisted that his team will have to perform out of their skins to end the season successfully. The boss stressed on the importance of consistency in the remaining course
of the campaign in order to stay in the first division.
“It was plain to see today that we have accepted the fact that we are fighting relegation. But, everyone else in the same situation also collected points, which did not make things easier for us. It did not get us out of it, we
still have six "cup finals" to go in which we must fight hard the way we did today,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, Hamburg defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcell-Jansen-c23544 added that the team has to repay the fans’ faith and the players have to work hard for that. The player claimed that the win against Kaiserslautern will certainly raise the confidence
of the team and would help in the future results.
“We have the city and our fans right behind us and we want to repay that trust in coming games, by carrying on working hard, in order to end the season on a positive note,” he concluded.
Hamburg SV will next take on Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga at the Imtech Arena on Sunday, April 8.
