The Hamburger SV manager is concerned with his team’s recent display but assures survival at the end of this season.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hamburger-SV-c39485 manager, Thorsten Fink, has expressed his dissatisfaction at his team’s recent results which have pushed them close to the relegation zone. The Red Shorts lost to SC Freiburg in the Bundesliga last weekend which has
extended their winless run to five games.
The Imtech Arena outfit showed lot of promise after returning from the winter break but have recently lost their way. In order to avoid relegation, Fink has urged his players to improve their defending skills especially from the
set-pieces which have been a big talking point this season.
Fink admitted that his team is currently experiencing a lean phase but confirmed that these mistakes will not be repeated in the future. He specified that from now on the players will be fined if they are found guilty while defending
set-pieces inside the box.
While talking to a local Hamburg newspaper, the former Basel boss further added: "If we concede goals from set-pieces, the team will pay, but if we score goals, then they will earn money."
On the other hand, the tactician also responded to criticism against his team. He insisted that the players are human beings and one cannot expect them to go out and score heavily in every game and emerge with three points. He
accepted that his players have been lethargic in their last few games but assured that Hamburg will survive demotion into the second division.
"Players are not machines and sometimes they have off days. You don't always produce good programmes - I know because I have often watched. We were a solid unit before Christmas, but maybe some people thought after our draw with
Monchengladbach that that was it,” Fink added.
The manager is confident that the team will live up to the expectations and will stay in the top division. He showed his readiness in helping out each player and backs them to perform in the midst of this difficult situation. "Now
I'm asking as a coach that the team adjusts. Footballers are like children sometimes. We must help them," Fink concluded.
Hamburg are currently 14th in the league standings with 27 points, two points clear of 16th placed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfL-Wolfsburg-c40881 on Friday, March 23, at the Volkswagen Arena.
