would you work at a food place that serves a lot of meat-related products? Or would you choose to work somewhere that doesn't involve food at all?

Just wondering.

  1. Well I did work a Burger King. And I'm a Vegetarian but at least I was the one making the veggie burgers!   They did switch to Lard for frying and grilling cause shortening went up in price!  So the veggie burgers were no more completely veggie burgers!  I don't work there now!  I now prefer to work in a non meat place but I'll work at which ever place pays better!

  2. Well it's obvious that if a vegetarian could find a job that didn't serve a lot of meat-related products, they would take it over a job that serves meat-related things.

  3. At the moment I am very desperate for a job, having been laid off unexpectedly from my last one.  The rent is due on the first of the month.  I'm not in a position to be picky on where I work.  Although if I had the choice I would definitely want to have a job that didn't involve close contact with the corpses of tortured animals.

  4. When I was newly vegetarian (at 16) I worked in a deli that served lots of meat, but I took orders and ran the cash registers.  Now that I have a career that doesn't involve food, I'd like to keep it that way.

  5. Even if you worked at "Whole Foods" - you would be around meat related products as they sell meat.

Work in an office - your going to find that you are going out with others to lunch that are not going to have the same views or dietary habits as you do.

When you have other supporting you - making choices is easy.  But when the rent is due (like the one person wrote of) and you support yourself - one works where they can.

While everyone would love to have a job where it totally reflected who and what they are - surrounded by others that totally share the very same views - reality has a way of getting in the way when the light bill comes, the phone bill, rent if you have rent to pay, money for groceries.  When reality knocks - most find that while they can have a particular belief and totally support it - that support means nothing if they are living under a bridge or having to sleep on someone's couch or in their basement and at the whim of someone else's 'generosity', or they can't afford their next meal.

It is at such times one finds out if they can live the reality that they want to live or not and still be true to it in the face of others reality that is not the same.  Such is what makes the world go 'round.

  6. I would not work at a place that serves meat that is making Americans fat, unhealthy, and fillilng us with disease.   If you are a vegetarian, stand for what you believe or you are a bad example.

  7. no i think i would avoid working somewhere with a lot of meat products, especially if i 'd have to cook it, i mean, i don't even like making my dad a sandwich because he always wants ham on it...
