Those of you who are voting for Mccain...?

I don't understand why Mccain is so great. I'm not taking a jab at him. I just really want to know. I'm young you see, I'm only a sophmore in highschool. I'm just curious. From my point of view, Mccain will only bring despair to my family. My dad's in Iraq for the 3rd time, my grandma's dying and can't get health insurance (if she could get it though, she would live longer.), my cousins are almost in poverty, I don't know if I'll have the same opportunity at an education as my grandparents did, and my mom is always complaining about gas. If Mccain isn't going to fix any of these major issues, why vote for him? No need to be rude, I just want your answer. Why are you voting for him? What is he going to fix? You say he has more experience, but his VP has about as much, if not less than Obama. And Obama's VP has as much experience as Mccain. So aren't the duos about equal when it comes to experience? I also noticed people saying that Obama was taking too long to choose his VP, and he was being dramatic about it too. But Mccain chose his VP weeks after Obama, AND he said who he chose around the day of Obama's speech. Yet, you won't say that he's being dramatic? And I also have to ask, Republicans are supposed to be the side with morals right? Well, if Republicans are so moralistic, shouldn't they hold up all (Christian) religious beliefs and not just a few? Sure, they don't agree with abortion (which I feel, by the way, shouldn't be a political issue-- It's between the pregnant woman and God), but then they don't want to help anyone out?-- It's pull yourself up by your own boot straps isn't it? That's not very Christian like.

  1. NEOCONS ARE TRAITORS TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!

  2. A better question is why you think the President of the USA is wholly and solely responsible for you and your kin's health and welfare.

And who told you that Rs don't help anyone out? They simply believe that individuals should be allowed to keep the things they've earned through their own labors and decide who and how they're going to help others themselves, rather than have the Imperial Federal Government do it for them. What's wrong with that? Do you not believe that people should have the freedom to _choose_?

As for "Christian like": I suppose using the police power of the government as an instrument of plunder, IOW sending govt. agents with guns to rob your fellows of what they have earned through their sweat and toil, is "Christian like"?

Be of good cheer. When you reach voting age, your government will appreciate your _slavish_ devotion to it.

Edit: ROTFLMAO! Sorry, but I just cruised through and read your edits. Third Bush Term! Gotta love it!

  3. I don't see this despair that you talk about coming about.  First off, the Iraq war.  You state your father is over there, good, I salute him.  Now, what I want from my President is a commander-in-chief who wants to win.  Your young, still in high school.  Do you remember fights between students, do you remember who won, or what started it.  Several years removed from my high school days I remember fights, but I remember who won, not who started it.  This same simple lesson can be applied to countries.  You probably have been told that the US lost Vietnam, but probably were never told the real truth as to why we went, the more important fact was we lost.  Is that how you want your father's time and effort in Iraq to be remembered?  To Me Obama doesn't care about winning, McCain does.

Health Insurance, big concern, but again I don't see a government health system as the answer.  The government is a notorious spender, and where is the money going to come from?  I don't make much, but high taxes won't help me, and pushing higher taxes on the wealthy and business I would probably find myself out of a job, so that doesn't help me at all with health care.  It's not an easy answer, if it was something would have been done long ago.  I've also lived in Canada, and the system, while good, isn't great.

Gas, Obama's plan is to have you inflate your ties and get routine tune ups?  How will this help your mother pay for gas?  Drilling will actually help in many area, decrease our dependence on foreign oil, get a better handle on the price of oil, give us a stop gap to keep money in the US while new more efficient energy is developed (such as wind power).  A side effect is that drilling will require jobs which will be here in the US, not in some foreign land.  More people with jobs, more money in the economy, the better the economy which would actually help you later on with your education.

I see Obama as spending government money which in the short term might look promising, but in the long term leave this country in even worse shape.

I'll agree that McCain choosing his VP was dramatic, but this is elections and both sides have been dramatic.

When you talk religion it can get sticky.  Personally, I'm 'classified' as a Christian, but I'm a Lutheran.  As a Lutheran we don't follow the Pope, which means our views are different than Catholics in some areas.  Being 'Christian' doesn't mean you believe the same things, it means that you have a similar religious foundation.

I will leave you with this:  Take a good look at how the press reports things, who's picture is on the front page, how large is it, is the person looking at you or off center?  These things can give you an idea as to who the paper/media want to win (President, senators, congressmen/women, etc).  Knowledge is power and some don't want you to know that.

    *edit*

Guess the truth hurts, don't it!  Stop watching MSNBC you might actually learn something.

  4. What I find funny is Obama calling for change then naming one of the biggest washington insiders he could find as his VP

Now picking someone outside of washington and a female

    Well quite frankly

THATS CHANGE YOU CAN BELIEVE IN

  5. Sounds to me like it really screwed you in this deal. Maybe you could get good luck here.http://heath-insurance.tips-free.info/he...

  6. Not voting for McCain just wanted to read what you had to say and frankly, I agree with you.

It takes people like you and me to understand these types of things like what's important and what's not. I lost one of my brothers in Iraq not to long ago, and my other two are overseas fighting. I lost an aunt to cancer because of the healthcare issue. So I completely understand what you're feeling. I also agree with you about abortion being a politic issue, it shouldn't be. Why it is I'll never know. But what women in generally fail to realize is that abortion is a woman's right, if the government steps in and demolishes that right, what other right will they take from us?

I, personally, see no point in voting for McCain who's policies and whole campaign resemble that of Bush. This country is in more turmoil then you know sweetheart, and it's only going to get worse if McCain wins.

I truly hope your father comes home safely and your grandmother is in my prayers.

pistons_34 - my brother DIED in Iraq, and the last letter that I got from him was a letter full of rage, hate and confusion about being in Iraq! Our troops are ready to come home!! The ones who died did die in vain!! There are people over there who died who will never get to see their child that was born during their course over there. It is so easy for you to feel that their deaths would be in vain if you pull them out because YOU DON'T HAVE A LOVED ONE THERE!!! THIS CHILD'S FATHER IS FIGHTING A WAR INSTEAD OF BEING HOME AND YOU'RE WONDERING ABOUT THEIR DEATHS BEING IN VAIN BY BRINGING THEM HOME???!!!

Where are our values? When did we lose valuing the family? Why must we, the war families, have to suffer so you all can be satisfied?? Why must our soldiers suffer?? Why? There is no heart in America anymore only blood thirst and it's a sad sad time people! It is truly sad! Learn what's important and stick to that. This war is not important. Those countries are bleeding just like we are and they are screaming just like we are. So don't tell me those deaths will be in vain if you bring the troops home now. No, those deaths will be in vain if you DO NOT bring the troops home now.

rz1971 - once again, you've just proved my point. You don't know the pain, you only see the fight. Pretty childish if I do say so myself. The fact remains, it's no longer about winning or losing anymore. In high school, after a fight the kids got suspended and went back to school. In war, if you take a bullet to the head, that's it. You don't get a second chance. But I see, you wanna win so badly, enlist. Fight for this country. Fight a war that you believe in so strongly. Do that for your country. OR, ask your friends and family to enlist. And if they already are enlisted I'm pretty sure you don't give a rat's *** about them with a comment like that.

  7. Hmm interesting, well voting in this years election is deciding who will do less of a worse job. International relations appear to be very poor and we need an individual who can at least start at improving them. As far as the war goes, i can't even imagine the stress and emotional weight that puts on your family, but if we were to pull our troops out, it really would make all of the deaths of U.S. soldiers a waste due to the fact that terrorist groups could consider that a win over the U.S. because we didn't accomplish our true goal. Then of course many question what our true goal was going into Iraq in the first place, but that is another story.

  8. its mostly hate for obama.  mccain is a moderate right like most of america who is definently not bush.  you should not see this as bush v obama.  because both candidates would bring change.  but obama sounds like fidel

  9. I wish everyone would just be honest with themselves as to why they are voting for who they are voting for.  If your voting Republican because you've always been Republican, then that's your choice; and the reasons go on.

But anyone with eyes and a double digit IQ can look and see that of the two candidates Obama just has it.  McCain is a pathetic mess.  The choice (gimmick) that he made for VP just showed that he will continue to make silly mistakes if he was made president.

Whatever the reason for going into Iraq (i.e., for control of the oil fields), it is time to cut your losses and get out of there before it is too late.

The rest of the world has already made their choice.  I want you to know that they have no interest in McCain.  I shudder to think what will happen if McCain gets in.

People, do what is right for the country and vote for Obama and make him accountable for the promises that he made.  This just may be the last chance.

  10. I will not vote for McCain. His personal history is fabulous...he is a true American hero. No one could ever take away from him what he personally suffered for our country and what he has offered since then. HOWEVER...he is a prisoner of that glorious past.  His VP choice is just plain silly. No offense to Ms. pATIN...SHE IS WONDERFUL AND SPECIAL...BUT SHE IS not WHO i'D WANT AS pRESIDENT OF THESE uNITED sTATES. oBAMA / bIDEN ISN'T PERFECT... BUT IT can WORK...AND THAT'S WHERE i'M GOING.
