Just curious about the cost of living there. What is the job market like down there?

  1. Job market is really tough, unless you're in a specialized field.  Even then, it's tough to get a good job for a good salary.  Jobs are out there, it's just that companies are taking advantage of the recession and paying as little as possible.

Your rent is going to depend largely upon what side of town, and what neighborhood.  I live intown, and pay $2300 a month for a 3 BR home.  If you are willing to live outside the city, you can expect to pay anywhere from $800 - $1800/mo.

  2. between 800-1200 a month

  3. I live in a 3 bedroom and it's $700 a month, but some may consider the area less than desirable. In better areas the prices are ridiculous ($850 and up).

  4. Depends on what side of town you are looking to live. It can range from $750-$1800. The job market is rough out there, but that is also depending on what type of job you are looking for. Alot of people use the temp agencies to get a foot in the door, espeically in corp. america.

  5. Depends on the location and size of the house. And whether it's newer construction or old.

A house out in suburbs that was built in the late 70s or 80's will probably be $1200 and up.  An older house in a not so nice area might go for $850 and up.

Intown living is very expensive, especially in the trendy and upscale neighborhoods.

Rent isn't much cheaper than a mortgage payment.
