  1. Its from the smell since most speeches are BS.


  2. It is subconsciously voluntary.

  3. It depends on whether or not the individual agrees.

    If the individual agrees, and the speech not only empowers their belief but builds on it and offers hope for the future, i myself would find it hard not to get a teensy bit emo.

    I'd have to say it's a little bit of both, really - you tear up because;

    A) You've been waiting to hear it for a long, long time.

    and

    B) You want other people to appreciate just how great a speech it is.
