  1. Did she actually starve to death? Because I thought that wasn't certain. And obviously the system failed, but ultimately the only people responsible are her parents.

  2. There is but sadly whatever 'system' you have in place if people want to fall off the radar they will - you would be amazed the lenths some abuisve parents will go to to ensure they are not picked up or monitored by the authorities.

Systems can also fail when mistakes are made.

  3. Sadly, this is a reflection on the type of people who are hired for child protective services more than anything else.

Maybe if there wasn't a union in place to protect their incompetence, this wouldn't happen.

  4. Its so easy to blame the system rather than the so called parents. Bells should have started ringing when the children stopped going to school so what were the teachers doing.? They were the first to realise that something was wrong. Why did they not contact social services.? Unless someone told social services, how are they expected to know something is wrong. ? Whats the lol for.?  Its not very funny

  5. I have to be honest that I haven't read or seen the news on this but my initial reaction was of how evil and vile the parents or guardians are. Foremost and ultimately the care of a child is with the parents and they are fully responsible for any neglect that occurs. No one knows what goes on behind closed doors and unless someone hears or sees disturbing evidence, then tragically the abusers are free to abuse. Most professions are under a lot of stress these days and it's not always due to their own fault and unless alerted, don't have the time to go poking about...

The choices some people make, sicken me...

  6. The same people are to busy imposing bans on the working class to notice anything else, how many elderly people die each year through starvation or hypothermia, they won't publish those figures will they, but they will let you know how many people got caught flouting the no smoking - law...............bloody hypocrites.....makes me sick.

  7. Social Services fukced up AGAIN!!!!

Michael....... Social Services WERE informed, according to the news tonight.

  8. Stop blaming the system and start blaming the lack of education to the vunerable in our society. Also apportion blame to the family and parents of this poor wee mite, She had an extended family so where were they? Surely not all of them are of low intelligence,

  9. Half of the people working for the Social Services,,don't have Children,,,How many poor Children is this,,This is not the First,,Heads should roll ,,Starting from the Top,,,

  10. you'd have thought that everyone knew the system of how to prevent a child in your care from staring to death- feeding them.

  11. there is , they are to busy looking at each other to see the outside world

  12. this is another child that has been murdered because of the "SYSTEM". i dont honestly think we have a system, children on the At Risk Registar are dying from violent or nutty parents every day. i have no confidence in the system or child protection at all. all we ever here when something like this hits the news is that lessons will be learnt ,,,YEA!!! WE HAVE HEARD THIS SO MANY TIMES...

  13. As far as I know the state is not responsible for bringing up every child in the country. social services dont get involved unless they are asked to by the school, parents, neighbours, police etc. It is perfectly legal to take children out of school to home school them and the only responsibility the govt have for that is a periodic check to make sure the curriculum is being taught, not to check the child itself. Doctors only treat people who ask for treatment. So who exactly are 'they' trying to hold responsible. there is no one system to oversee the care of children - except the parents. They are the only ones responsible.

  14. I am not surprised at all, in 1987 me and my younger sister were starved by our stepmother and alson beaten by her and her family after the breakup of our parents marriage. We ended up eating out of the bin and stealing food. After being given a black  eye by my stepbrother and a severe beating. we ran away from home. During this time my real mother (in London) had been desperately reporting our plight to the police, our schools and social services. THEY DID NOTHING They made out she was a jealous ex wife . SOCIAL WORKERS VISITED MY STEPMOTHERS HOUSE TWICE WITHOUT EVEN SEEING ME AND MY SISTER AND SAID THERE WAS NO PROBLEM.  The worst bit of this is that my father worked for social services. They dont give a c**p about getting through the lies of the abusers and actually seeing the state of the poor kids. My heart goes out to her little soul.

  15. I find it amazing that the children have not attended school for the past TEN weeks and nobody wondered why?
