Question:

Thoughts on Colt Brennans debut?

I was impressed. I've been following his career since his junior year at Hawaii. Now i know it was just preseason and he was running with the 2s or 3s but like Faulk said on Total Access you deal with the cards you are dealt. He controlled the offense and made some wicked plays. Anybody else excited about his potential to be a good NFL QB?

  1. I was absolutely impressed. He had 132 career NCAA TDs, which is one of the best, if not the best. I don't see why he wasn't drafted higher. My team (the Redskins) really got a steal. He was 9/10, 120 yds and 2 TDs on 3 drives!!! And he had to throw to the garbage WRs that won't make the team!

  2. He was pretty impressive. I don't expect him to usurp Jason Campbell any time soon, but he might work is way into the #2 spot if he keep up like he did. I would be interested to see how he does against a first-team defense.

  3. He was great. I have been a fan of him since he started at the University Of Hawaii.

But I became worried about his NFL potential when he was blown out in his Bowl game by Georgia and he was terrible in his Combine work and Senior Bowl.

He looked great against the Colts. His footwork and accuracy was much improved. He will not be a starter for a while, but in 2009, he may be the 2nd string quarterback instead of 3rd string.

  4. I think he has the potential to be a good NFL QB, but the one thing I am worried about is that the offense he played in at Hawaii, did not prepare him to take snaps under center. I see how that hurts with Alex Smith and hopefully Brennan can overcome this.

  5. how are you impressed?

he played against a bunch of 3rd string players and players that might get cut from the team lol

ryan leaf could throw 10/10 against them

watch if brennan starts he will choke like he always does against REAL teams

  6. Who was he throwing against the other night???

Sorry to rain on your parade, but preseason results mean squat. Teams don't gameplan for them. They just line up and run basic plays. Brennan looked good, I wholeheartedly agree. But he was also completing passes against a bunch of Colts players who will get cut in a couple of weeks.

  7. i was impresed to i statred ot question his skills when they played georgia and lost but now i see that he is talented

  8. he was great

I dont expect him to start or anything but maybe next year if cambell struggles this year he might start

  9. I think he has the potential to be very good. I think he will be the 2nd string QB for most of the year and it depends on how good the team does this year or even injuries on if he will see playing time. But he has looked very good so far.

  10. ive always believed brennan was HIGHLY overrated, because he was..i mean just look at former hawaii qbs who put up insane number...(one being timmy chang)..but none the less i was very very impressed. regardless of him playing against scrubs..he was still throwing to scrubs and being blocked by a line who was about as good as his college line. He was very accurate and moved well. Then again, dont think to highly because he probably wont amount to anything because the skins already have their qb of the future in campbell

  11. I think he is really talented, and was very impressed during his debut. I think if Jason Campbell goes down or has a rough season, Jim Zorn will look Brennan's way.

    Go Hawaii!

  12. he was actually realy good i want to see him go up against a first team defence tho

  13. Brennan has talent, I don't think many will doubt th at.  I think the problem he has is struggling under pressure.  While he can make plays and he has a great arm (with shaky mechanics) he failed in the biggest game of his career as a collegiate.  I think with a solid O-line, he could be a starter somewhere but he isn't very elusive and since he is undersized is a potential injury risk.

I watched some of his tape in WAC games and he does really well.  He is a good QB and has a future.  Time will tell but this may be an indication of something to come, just not as a Redskin I think.  Maybe another Derek Andersen, he was a backup for the Ravens I believe and went to the Browns and found a starting job after Frye left.  I wouldn't be shocked in something like this eventually came for Brennan.
