Thoughts on a theory I read......"Gravity = God"

I read this theory somewhere the other day, could the idea of God be based on gravity?...its a binding force that is all around us always and unites everything in existence (so is God?)...its the key to the creation of the universe (so is God?)...etc.

Its an interesting idea, please discuss/comment/advise/laugh etc

  1. I've always seen the question of god's existence as a matter of definition.  If you define god as a being with all the particular characteristics attributed to him by one faith (and not by any other), then I'm happy to maintain a healthy scepticism about it.  On the other hand, if you simply define god as the force that created and maintains the universe...

The laws of physics, arguably, are the one omnipotent aggregate in the universe.  Makes sense to suggest that, in a certain light, they would constitute a 'minimum definition' of god.

  2. Matter makes gravity, not the other way round. So, in a twisted sense of logic, the Universe created God.

  3. The universe, mysterious as it may seem, is bound by laws. Science has explanations for most of these things but it always hits a dead end. Gravity and God are unequal.., we dare not attempt its mathematical proof!

  4. This is known as pantheism.  In other words, natural laws are god.  Spinoza was the first leading advocate of this approach to god, Einstein a recent advocate.  Google "pantheism" for more information.

  5. Newton didn't think so. He came up with the theory of gravity and also believed that the words of his Holy Bible should be taken literally.

We are also bound by electrical and magnetic forces. What of them?

  6. This is a great example of Christians making these insane rationalizations for their out-dated imaginary friend. Science has proved his in-existence.

  7. Gravity and God are two different kinds of things. Gravity is an observed force between bits of matter. God is a suggested supernatural explanation of why everything (except of course for the unexplained God) exists in the first place.

  8. RECENTLY I HAVE GONE THROUGH A SITE ABOUT GRAVITY THAT GRAVITATIONAL FORCE IS DUE TO EXPANTION OF A THING THIS WAS REALY A GRAT TOPIC AND NOW SCIENTIST ARE WORKING ON IT

    WHAT ABOUT GOD

    WE CAN BELIVE ONLY

    BUT THE WHAT IS TRUTH

    ONLY GOD KNOW

  9. I see no reason to deify natural forces.

Oh NO, the Sun comes up, it must be God!

Oh NO, the Moon comes up, it must be God!

Oh, NO, the rain comes down, it must be God!

Have we not outgrown such childish superstitions?

  10. good manipulation of a sentence in the bible you should make a cult and make a killing (in both sense of the word) but otherwise NO

1 simple difference god thinks gravity doesn't

  11. One could conceive of the universe as the total physical manifestation of "god".  That is, that the universe IS god and everything in the universe is part of god.  Perhaps people are wrong to think of god as a separate thing from his creation.  If god is everywhere, then the universe is essentially god, no?
