Thoughts on bad vision?

I've never had glasses mine entire life, and then when I was 15, for some reason, I ended up at the eye doctor, and they told me my vision was 20/40 and 20/80. Obviously I got the glasses(- or contacts, i wear contacts!) It just seems so weird to me. I knew my vision was a little blurry- but I never knew it was that bad!! I'm just like AHHHH! right now. this is crazy my visions supposed to be perfect!! who else has crazy vision like mine and what was your story?

I didn't think my vision was really that bad, but it was blurry enough to not be able to see certain things far away! I went to the eye doctor and they said that I need glasses. My vision is 20/40 too.

Yes.  Some of my patients never realized that trees had leaves until they got their first glasses.

A lot of times, bad vision creeps up on you slowly and you might not notice it. After all, it's not like one day your vision is perfect and the next it's horrible. It's a gradual process, with your vision getting VERY slightly weaker every few weeks/months or so.

I've been wearing glasses since 3rd grade and I'm 30 now. My vision's degraded a LOT in that time, but it isn't that noticeable day-to-day, since the change is sooooo slow.
