Thoughts on renting a van for 6 + luggage for touring Ireland and the UK. Have heard horror stories.?

You American? If so, FORGET IT.  You will be dead within the week.  Driving through Ireland would be cool and the ferry is quite cheap.  But do you really want to drive in the UK - it is NUTSO! There is nowhere to park and a van is so big, you won't have room for it.  If anything, rent a small car and just pack light!

You'll have no problem, in fact it's the best way to see any country & head off the beaten track.  A decent map, good guide book & sence of adventure is all you need.  Go for it!
