Thoughts on the Italy vs Austria friendly?

i think they've been out playing austria for the majority of the match so far anad have had better chances, but their slip ups cost them two goals. But im still seeing a big difference from the way they played in euro.They're attacking alot more, i honestly think they could have been up by 2 or 3 three goals by now. And might i add my pirlo looks mighty fine:D

I completely agree with you Bella. Italy definitely outplayed Austria and had ample chances to take the lead from Austria, but their mistakes did cost them a few goals. But I am glad to say they are playing way better than they did at the Euro Cup. And Pirlo does look mighty fine! I was also happy to see that Gilardino was playing better, a few mistakes, but overall I felt he played well and scored a goal! Was hoping for a win, but at least they didn't lose. I was also glad to see Del Piero with that captain's armband! Made my day! :)

You're kinda right. Although Italy made mistakes during the match, and their defense wasn't at its best, and many players like Di Natale shouldn't have played, their performance was WAAAY better than in the Euro. They're playing more like a team and they're putting more effort. However, they still need to improve ALOT to be like they used to in 2006. Don't forget that many players where missing due to injury such as Toni and Cannavaro and that it was only a qualifying match. There where also rumors regarding the return of Nesta and Totti. Also Lippi is making younger players participate in matches and hes a great coach. So i think that with time, Italy will get back to the top.

They have some work on their back end. Too many chances given up defensively. Barzagli is lost if you ask me.  Lippi will straighten them out, don't worry.  Offensively, I  liked what I saw in the 2nd half. Not bad, for first game under Lippi.
