I know i know it is a little old fashioned, but at least it is a REAL name!

Here is the deal:

My hubby and I would like to name our children after our grandparents. My grandmother's name was Beatrice - she had no middle name.

His grandfather's name is Edward

I love my grandmother so much and miss her like crazy (she passed 2 yrs ago) and want to honor her, but I am scared my child will not like her name if i name her Beatrice. What do you think?

Courtney Beatrice Adams

If I dont go with Beatrice I will name her after my middle name- Gail.

I am also open to some more First Names that go well with both Beatrice and Gail.

  1. Whatever you name her will be fine. She will be so used to the name by the time she is an adult that it wont even affect her. All teenagers go through a stage that they wish they had another name. My daughter is going through it now but she still loves her name. Besides, the middle name is not as important as her first name and I love the name Courtney. The name sounds good together.

  2. Patricia Beatrice Adams

  3. i like Beatrice and I think you should stick with it to honor your grandmother.

Courtney Beatrice Adams is really nice.  I also like Gail Beatrice Adams.

I also think Beatrice makes a nice first name.

    Beatrice Margaret Adams

    Beatrice Edwina Adams

  4. Well I think if you want to honor your grandmother that is a wonderful way to do it.  And honestly it doesn't matter too much if your daughter likes or doesn't like her middle name.  Middle names are rarely used in life.  Middle initials are frequently used and there is nothing wrong with the middle initial of B.  As your daughter grows up you should show her pictures of her great grandmother and tell her stories about her.  If she hears all these wonderful things then it is very likely that she will be very proud of her middle name.

  5. Well, how about a variant of Beatrice.

Bee is very nice. Courtney Bee Adams.

    I like Beatrice though. Lol.

    Aria Beatrice Adams.

Briana Beatrice Adams is my fave.

  6. Its really lovely you wish to honour grandparents. I myself hope to do the same. Beatrice, although old fashioned is lovely and can be shortened to Bea. Naming your daughter that shows gratitude to your grandmother and creates a lovely nickname.

Myself, I always liked the name Cecelia. Cecelia Beatrice? Ava Beatrice? Abigail Beatrice? Samantha Beatrice? Eva Beatrice?

I'm finding this quite hard. So why not try making Beatrice the first name?

    Good Luck!

  7. It's just a middle name, so it shouldn't be that big of a deal.

What about Bea?  Still an homage but less old fashion.

  8. Ainsley Beatrice Adams

    Adelaide Beatrice Adams

  12. I think it's perfectly fine to use an "uglier" name as a middle name, especially when it has special family meaning.  My oldest girl's middle name is Nell after my grandmother.  It's really old fashion and I would not have considered using for a first name, but it has a lot of meaning behind it.  Besides, how many people do you tell your middle name to on a regular basis anyway?

  13. Melany Beatrice

    Leah Gail

    Sara Beatrice

    Lauren Gail

    Alexa Beatrice

    or

    Symone Gail

  14. It's not my own style or a name I would use myself, but I see great value in the idea of honoring someone important to you. And I think once your child is a lot older she will understand the great meaning of her name.

  15. I think it is pretty.  The old fashioned names are becoming more popular and personally I like them much better than the "made-up" names.  I think it is a lovely idea to name your baby after your grandmother.  I like Gail too, and I think both names go with Courtney.

  16. I think Courtney Beatrice Adams!
