Self-evident truths do have justifications; but they are not necessary, since the truths are self-evident.

Correct.  The Big Bang theory is, for me, a case in point.  It was hard to believe at first, but it answers some questions that cannot be answered in any other way, so it is looking quite sound.

i dont think it has the appearance of a lie, because the best lies seem like truth, but truth is very often stranger than fiction and the larger truths are probably very hard to believe at first.
