Question:

Threatening someone is illegal, right?

My Mum and Stepdad have been threatened by my Stepdad's ex wife and her boyfriend. Just this morning her boyfriend went to my stepdads workplace and made the sign of slitting his throat! However, no matter how much we tell the police, they do absolutely nothing about it! They say that 'We can't do anything because they didn't actually harm anyone', so that to me sounds like they're going to wait until someone gets hurt or killed to follow any of it up! I'm really scared and it's been affecting my grades at school for the past year, I'm now on an F in Chemistry! Surely there must be someone higher that we can go to that will stop them threatening us! Also, a few weeks ago my stepdad's ex wife hit him in the face, he called the police but they said because there was no marks, they couldn't charge her?!

Please help me because I really don't know what to do! :(

  2. As long as there is/are witness/ses and also you can blotter (police)this/these persons. And if ever there is a physical attack go to the doctor for findings and you can charge them physical injury. you dont need to be killed just to sue someone for a grave threat.

  3. Threating behaviour is not accepted under the law of:

    Incriminating Threat To Life 1985

If you feel scared and under alot of pressure, talk to your local police station and they will set up interviews for you and your family..

  4. Can you clarify your location? By saying Mum refering to your mother, I get the impression your are in a European country like England or perhaps Australia? Our answers arent going to help you much since laws are different everywhere.

  5. This kind of behaviour should not be tolerated and I think you should keep reporting it to the police as they have powers to get a restraining order against them. Hope things work out alright

  6. You poor thing. You (or your parents) shouldn't have to live this way. The police aren't helping much. Ex's are very nasty mostly. Their relationships haven't worked out for what ever reason. They need to move on & let go. We had probs with hubby's ex wife. She kept phoning us. One day I just told her to p*** off. She didn't phone again.

    Good luck.

  7. Thats when you get a restraining order, if he brakes it is jail time for him. ^_____^
