Three Asian Tour cards on offer at the Yeangder ADT
The Asian Development Tour is set to stage the final event on its roster this season, the Yeangder ADT, slated to start from Tuesday, November 20, 2012.
The tournament will be played at the National Garden Country Club, offering a total prize fund of US$120,000.
With the Asian Development Tour reaching its climax, the participants have set their sights on finishing the season among the top-three in the ADT Order of Merit.
According to the tournament officials, the top-seven players in the Order of Merit will headline the field this week.
Jay Bayron currently leads the Order of Merit with total earnings of US$30,889 and is in prime position to finish the season among the top-three in the list. However, the race for the second and the third position is still open.
According to the Asian Tour’s qualifying policy, the top-three players from the Asian Development Tour will receive full-time playing status on the Asian Tour for the 2013 golf season.
Hsu Mong-Nan of Chinese Taipei and Peter Richardson of England currently hold the second and the third spot, respectively, in the Order of Merit.
Bayron, who started playing on ADT in 2011, has recorded a total of three victories in his career on the tour. He now hopes to become the first Filipino to win the ADT Order of Merit, by maintaining his position, till the end of this week’s tournament.
“It isn’t easy to finish in the top three of the Merit list but I know that it is even more stressful trying to earn your Asian Tour card in Qualifying School. I just need a good result at the Yeangder ADT to cement my position,” said the amiable Filipino.
Hsieh Chi-Hsien, who ranks fourth in the list, has set his sights on recording the second victory of his career on the tour.
Earlier this season, he won the Ballantine’s Taiwan Championship in August. If he succeeds in winning the tournament this week, he will be able to secure his card for the 2013 Asian Tour season.
“I’m aiming to finish in the top-three to get my Asian Tour card. That’s my main goal. The ADT is very good. It is awesome because young players like me will get a chance to gain more experience,” said the 22-year-old.
