Three Californian stars confirmed for Fresh & Easy Kraft Foods Legacy Junior Challenge
The Fresh & Easy Kraft Foods Legacy Junior Challenge, which is going to be staged on March 27, at the Arnold Palmer Course in Rancho Mirage, is going to have a strong field, with the participation of junior stars Lauren Diaz Yi, Drew Thomas and Katie Rice.
The 3 young stars have been confirmed recently, with the field featuring some of the tough contenders in junior golf.
Lauren Diaz represents Westlake High and has what it takes to shine on the course. Diaz’s participation is going to spice up the already-hyped tournament.
Moreover, two Californians Drew Thomas and Katie Rice, who belong to Oxnard High, have vowed to do their best when they come face-to-face with their rivals.
The tournament is being played just 2 days before the major championship, Kraft Nabisco Championship.
All the players involved are preparing to find a spot in the major championship—something observers have appreciated, as it will help the LPGA officials find more talented players for big events.
Officials of the Fresh & Easy Kraft Food Legacy Junior Challenge said that the player with best scores in the event will make it to the Kraft Nabisco Championship.
The Championship is offering a sponsor’s invitation to junior players in an attempt to tap the true potential of young golfers.
Lauren Diaz Yi, Drew Thomas and Katie Rice are among the sixteen Californian female golfers who have been confirmed in the field.
In addition to the 3 Californians, the tournament officials recently took on board Cha Cha Willhoite, who represents Palm Desert High School.
According to the officials of the event, gaining a spot in the field of Kraft Nabisco Championship is the only thing motivating junior golfers.
Apart from that, the presence of LPGA Hall of Famers, gracing the tournament will be another attraction.
Sixteen players in the field will get a chance to play along with the LPGA giants. Amy Alcott, who is also one of the organizers of the Fresh & Easy Junior Challenge, will lead the Hall of Famers.
SCGA Foundation Executive Director Kevin Gigax said that the junior tournament is especially designed to give rising players a chance to polish their skills for bigger tournaments.
“The Junior Challenge will showcase the best junior girls in Southern California and will also inspire many more girls to pursue their dreams in golf,” he said.
