Three San Francisco Giants’ players to hit free agency market – MLB Update
After winning the 2012 World Series title, the San Francisco Giants are sitting quite comfortable in the offseason and watching very closely regarding the moves top Major League teams are making.
Though they have not showed any interest to sign any new players but things will change after the free agency negotiations end.
Three of their players are lined-up in free agency market. Giants’ second baseman Marco Scutaro, left-hander Jeremy Affeldt and centre fielder Angel Pagan have filed for free agency and will be looking for a new contract.
It is also a possibility that they will re-sign with the Giants but this is still a speculation.
“I did see that, There’s a market established there, and it is what it is,” said Affeldt.
Affeldt added, “If it works out, I’d like to come back, But whatever happens, I’ll never have a bad word to say about this organization. It won’t ever be a situation where I wouldn’t come back because I didn’t like it here. These guys are obviously frontrunners. They have to be.”
He finished this Major League Baseball season with 2.70 ERA along with three saves, 57 strike-outs and 1.26 WHIP. While his ten-year career 4.01 ERA along with 28 saves, 637 strike-outs and 1.42 WHIP also make him a good player in the league.
Experts believe that he will get a good long term contract as his agent is also looking at more options for his client in the league.
Free agent second baseman Marco Scutaro also had a very good season with .306 hitting average along with seven homers, 74 RBIs and .348 OBP.
“I am looking for 15 years, three thousand-million dollars, How you like me now?” Scutaro said in a light manner.
He added, “Is that a question? Of course. This team is great. This city is great.”
Giants' third free agent, Angel Pagan is also a good player and likely to get a healthy contract. He finished 2012 Major League outing achieving .288 hitting average along with eight homers, 56 RBIs and .338 OBP.
He has six-years of big league experience and considered one of the most athletic players in the Giants' roster. He did very well in the field and proved positive for the Giants in the offseason.
