Three aces for Sunday’s Handicap Chase at Market Rasen - Preview
Watch Racing UK On Sky Channel 432 Handicap Chase is scheduled to be held at Market Rasen today, February 19. The Class 5 race of £2,339 prize money will commence at 4:20.
Ten runners including Vin De Roy, Stick Together, Pistol Basc, Oniz Tiptoes, Whiskey Ridge, Esme Rides A Gaine, Royaume Bleu, Thorncliffer, Oh Right and Feeling Peckish are going to compete on 3m1f good to soft course.
Out of the ten, Oniz Tiptoes, Whiskey Ridge and Royaume Bleu are likely to bag the top three positions respectively.
Here, we gauge each of the trio in the light of his skills and recent performances. This will clarify the cause behind their being favourites.
Oniz Tiptoes
The 11-year-old gelding hiked his confidence greatly by winning Sis Live Handicap Hurdle on January 5, 2012. Despite being a non-favourite runner, he performed well and won. Following this, he finished fourth in another race on January 23.
Prior to these two starts, the trainee of John Wainwright had delivered some eye-catching performances during December 2011. It shows that he has been enjoying immense form since last couple of months.
The 93-race veteran gelding will surely show a big run today at Market Rasen and clinch the top spot. He has 90 percent chances to win.
As a whole, Oniz Tiptoes has 9 triumphs to his credit.
Whiskey Ridge
Sue Smith’s black gelding has not won even a single race to date since his debut in May 2010, but he has demonstrated some marvellous runs in his career.
In each of his last three starts, the six-year-old runner ran and finished well. On October 26, 2011 at Haydock, he got fourth position. Running as a 9-4 favourite on November 12, he finished fifth.
In his last outing on December 26 at Wetherby, Whiskey Ridge exhibited nice run and picked third spot.  Thus, the talented gelding is supposed to do well again today and stand at least second.
Royaume Bleu
Trained by Alex Hales, the seven-year-old gelding too has been winless so far in his career which began in April 2009. After finishing third in two consecutive races during November 2011, he got fourth position in a thrilling contest on December 13.
Royaume Bleu exhibited outstanding run in his last start on January 28, 2012 at Uttoxeter and finished second. This near-to-win performance perked up his morale greatly. If he capitalises well on his fresh form, he can get third top spot today at Market
Rasen.
Conclusion
Apart from this trio, the other runners too possess enough talent. Thus, it is going to be close competition packed with thrill. A large number of spectators are expected to turn up to the venue on the weekend to enjoy the mega marathon.
