  1. If you rank them by how much Spanish you need to know to, like, order a meal and ask directions, SMA would be the easiest (many English speakers).  Puebla would be in the middle (some English speakers). And Guanajuato would be the hardest (few English speakers).  Of course, I don't know your level of Spanish, so this many not be a consideration.

  2. GUANAJUATO!!! puebla is hot hot hot and there isnt much to see

  3. ¡ Go to all of them!!!!

They are amazing colonial cities.... can not describe it.

Look, when you go to those places, then you realize about real mexican culture.

    It is fantastic.

  4. All three are good choices. If you are flying into Mexico City, Puebla(your least expensive option) is closest and has the most colonial buildings and the widest variety of things to do and see. From Puebla you could also take a short 20 minute bus or taxi ride to Cholula a quaint small colonial town with one of the largest pyramids in the world currently being excavated and restored in the middle of the town.Cholula also has an inordinate number of beautiful colonial churches to see. Both San Miguel and Guanajuato are also just a bus ride away from Puebla if you wanted to visit one or both of them on a day trip.Feel free to email me if you have any other questions or concerns.

  5. Haven't been there in twenty years, but Guanajuato and San Miguel de Allende aren't very far from each other.  If you have to choose between the two, Guanajuato is far more interesting, especially the Mummy Museum.  San Miguel de Allende has been overrun by American expats, especially rich Texans.

  6. Guanajuato is a beautiful city and it´s close to San miguel de Allende where large part of the population is American-mexican.

  7. The first answer has it all, also consider the second one.

I prefer Guanajuato, there is far more to see and the place is lovely
