Three different squads not ideal for Pakistan, feels http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jalal-ud-Din-c65363 – Cricket News Update
Former Test cricketer, Jalal-ud-Din, does not agree with Pakistan Cricket Board’s recent idea of having different teams for all the three formats of the game and feels that there are not enough quality cricketers in the country to
make this move a success.
The selection committee, headed by the former Test spinner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 last month and gave chances to a number of players who have done well in the domestic circuit in the
previous season.
There are only a few players who are a part of the national team in all the three versions of the sport.
Some of the players chosen only for the T20 series, Hammad Azam, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Haris-Sohail-c61503 returned home without even getting an opportunity to showcase their skills in the Island.
Jalal believes that some players in the other two squads will also come back without playing a match and the selection committee has just made an effort to accommodate more and more players from different regions.
“There are currently 3-4 players in this team who we are just taking as a formality and the selectors will drop again. This means that players are simply being chosen to keep people happy, when really the only thing that should matter
is choosing the best team for Pakistan,” he said.
The former cricketer, who is the first bowler in the history of One Day International cricket to get a hat-trick, is of the opinion that there are not many players of international calibre in the country at the present moment.
Jalal further added that the selectors and the board should consider the ground realities of Pakistani cricket before making their policies, instead of blindly following some of the other cricketing nations, who can experiment because
they have a bigger pool of players.
“If we have plenty of players to choose from then its fine, but we simply do not have the talent to make three different teams just because other countries are doing so. I feel this concept of different teams does not suite http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755
and I completely disagree with it,” Jalal believes.
