Three ladies go to a concert. Tickets for the main

floor are 20$ each, so the ladies paid a total of

60$. When they arrive at the concert they learn

that no main floor seats remain. They receive

instead less expensive balcony seats and the

manager refunds them 10$ which is given to an

usher to return. The usher returns 6$ to the ladies

and pockets 4$ for himself. So each lady pays, in

effect, 18$ for her seat. 3x18$=54$, plus the 4$

the usher kept, equals 58$. What happened to the

other 2$?

  1. Utter nonsense.

The ladies paid 3x18$ = 54$. Which is 60$ minus the 6$ returned to them. Of these 54$ they paid 50$ to the manager and 4$ to the usher.
