Three layer cake in three 8 inch round pans, I'm making it in 2 9 inch round pans.

The original recipe says to bake for 25 to 30 minutes at 350 degrees. The layers will be thicker and wider. Can anyone give me a hint how to alter my temperature and cook time? Thanks!

  1. According to wilton.com you should bake them for 30-35 minutes at 350°.  I use the info from this site a lot.  It tells how many cups of batter you need for different sized pans, temperature you should cook it at, how long you should bake it, and how many cups of frosting it takes to frost your cake, etc.  I put this info on the back of my recipe card for buttercream icing.

  2. 30 mins at 350 should be about right.

  3. If you are making it in two 9 inch pans then the layers will take about 20-25 minutes but always make sure to check them with a toothpick and if there is uncooked batter on the toothpick then cook them a bit longer.  You can also check for doneness if the cake has pulled away from the sides of the pan and if you press in the center of the cake lightly it springs back.
