Three light fixtures no current on one circuit breaker?

Our kitchen's three light fixtures do not work. I checked the curcuit breaker thats conected to it and it did not trip. It's a new house There are two different locations to turn the switches to on or off. I checked and there is no current coming out of both wall switches. I think that its the circuit breaker. If so how difficult is it to replace one of the breakers?

  1. first thing they didn't just put one breaker for three lights. make sure one of your three way switches was not left in the middle position. i mean not up or down in the middle handle in the middle. old electrician joke for new helper to figure out but it can happen accidentally . also you are in the kitchen they could have wired them into a GFCI Receptacle. check these couple things first

  2. Some new breakers require that you flip it all the way to on, then off, then on again in order to reset. They can be tripped and not look like it so I would do the flip as I suggested before trying other things. If that doesn't work put a tester on the circuit beaker out wire to see if you have power there. If no power it is the breaker. The breaker can be popped out by pulling it on the end that the hot wire is attached to. Then pull the rest of it out from under the clip.Replace it with the same brand and size.  Once out loosen the s***w, pull out the hot wire and put it into the new breaker and tighten the s***w. The end goes back in under the clip and then press the side with the wire back in firmly. Done. It is very unusual for breakers to fail, but it does happen.

  3. First make sure you have the right breaker....

Then make sure it hasn't tripped... turn it ALL the way to off, and back on...

if you have two switches, they may be wired to separate breakers

To change the breaker, turn off the main switch, remove the front cover of the box..hold the breaker by the outer end, and pull

make sure the main is off...... if any thing makes you uncomfortable, call a professional....

  4. If the lights arnt on, there wont be any current flow, but you should have voltage at the breaker, if you dont have voltage (to ground) try manually tripping and resetting the breaker, if you still dont have voltage, replace the breaker, turn it off, disconnect the wire going to it, then pry the breaker out be careful not to touch the busbar, they usually come out top first.
