Three of a kind or straight in poker?

Which is better?- three of a kind (queens) or a straight?

hmmmm I am assuming you aren't playing a split pot game or razz.  If you are playing a high only game, 7 stud, omaha, or apparently everyones' favorite on this venue (with the exception of moi) texas holdem, there is only one time 3 of a kind beats a straight, that is when you have a pair to go with your three of a kind for a full house, humor aside, I agree with the sentiments of another of your answerers, "where do you play poker, and can I join your game?"  Well, I guess all the humor wasn't aside.  Staight beats trips every day, and twice on Sunday.

A Straight always beats 3 of a Kind. Doesn't matter what the 3 of a Kind is.

Probably because of how hard it is to get a Straight.

If you want to get technical, the answer depends upon what poker game you're playing.  

For example lowball is a very popular poker game.  In lowball, three of a kind is "better" than a straight!  (In lowball, the lowest hand wins.)

Here is the order in Poker...High card...Pair...Two Pairs...3 of a kind...Straight...Flush...Full House...4 of a kind...Straight Flush...Royal Flush.
