Three of four 'Final' events announced for 2014 cards – PGA Tour
PGA Tour has announced three of the four events which will determine the tour card for 50 players. This four tournament series is known as Web.com Tour.
Unlike before, where Q-School decided the tour cards, the PGA of America has now decided that four Web.com Tour events will decide the cards. Q-school, however, will continue to take place as it used to earlier on.
The Web.com Tour field will comprise of 75 players from FedEx Cup standings and 75 from the money tour list. Players who are ranked between 126-200 will be featuring in this four-event series.
Each of the events has prize money of $1 million and the cut will be made at 60.
The finals will start on the 29th of August, when the lists will be finalised. First up will be the Hotel Fitness Championship, at Sycamore Hills Golf Club in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
After that, there will be the Chiquita Classic, at The Club at Longview outside Charlotte, N.C., followed by the third event, which is Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship, on the Scarlet Course, at Ohio State.
Initially, it was planned that three events will take place but, right at the end, the authorities decided to add the fourth one. However, it is not announced yet, but it will take place on the 26th to the 29th of September.
When the four-event series will start, everybody taking part will start from zero. However, those already play at the Web.com Tour, will have some added advantage, as the top 25 players will get their cards for the next season.
The PGA Tour said that leading players from the Web.com Tour and from the Finals will get entry in to every tournament, including the Players championship.
Experts see consistency behind the addition of the fourth tournament, so that the most consistent players make it to the PGA Tour.
''With the introduction of this new qualifying process and four Finals events in 2013, the Web.com Tour is about to embark on the most exciting era in its 23-year history,'' Finchem said.
The fourth event will start a week after the Tour Championship.
