Make them economically attractive. Switchgrass is a great way to create ethanol, a renewable fuel that could literally solve our energy problems, given a chance. There are other grasses which would also be viable using the same technology.

Is this a question on an exam or something?  In my opinion, the grassland ecosystem is in great danger due to several factors.  One big problem is poor grazing management.  If better grazing management practices were used, grassland ecosystems would be in a lot better shape.  Secondly, noxious weed invasion is destroying the biodiversity of grassland ecosystems.  Prevention and control of noxious weeds is vital.  Third, controlled burning is needed to be more widely used to release nutrients into the soil and stimulate the growth of the native grasses.  Hope this helps.

1) the main way would be to allow grass fires to burn like they used to this burns out trees and shrubs and allows the grassland to remain grassland Alberta is looking into this since the huge grass fires of yesteryear are no longer the prairie grasslands are shrinking because trees and shrubs are taking there place

2)having the governments stepping in and buying up land and designating it parkland or non agricultural and only allow animals wild or domestic to graze on it

3)give farmers tax credits if they but land fallow from the plough and only grazing land
