Do you want to know why animals are not called plants? If not, then you should have put your question in the joke category.

Anyways, the difference is in the very basic unit, the cell.  Plant cells have a non living outer covering called the cell wall.

This cell wall is absent in animals. All animals are heterotrophic, that is they derive their nutrition from other organeisms, unlike plants. And finally, animals can move from one place to another, which is very much unlike plants
