Three runners to take part in Howdens Joinery Novices´ Handicap Chase
Only three runners have been attracted towards the Howdens Joinery Novices´ Handicap Chase at Haydock in England on Wednesday, March 21, 2012. The cash prize for the winner has been set as £3,249.
The bookmakers have given the best odds to Arctic Ben, who will be competing against Priceless Art and Tahiti Pearl in the class-4 event. The going will be good to soft in the 2 mile race, which is scheduled to start at 3:15 GMT.
Although just three runners will be seen in action, the race will still be quite exciting and entertaining for the spectators. It will also be challenging for the bettors to choose their favourite.
Arctic Ben has won the confidence of the bookmakers, as he has done well in chase races. Other than that, his recent form has also been good, which suggests that he will be victorious at Haydock today.
The eight-year-old gelding has entered 10 chase races, winning just a couple of them. His strike rate is certainly not impressive, but he has mostly managed to challenge the front runners. Other than his victories, he has also secured third place on a couple
of times whereas finished runner up once.
Henry Daly’s trained runner has won two of his past three races, which suggests that he is in spectacular form at the moment. He will be full of confidence and the bettors will also be comfortable, placing maximum number of bets in his favour.
In his most recent appearance, Arctic Ben finished third overall. He was the favourite to win that event, but failed to live up to the expectations of everyone. He started off well, but was unable to gain momentum towards the end.
Today’s favourite horse will be partnered by Andrew Tinkler, who has managed to win 51 chase races in his career until now.
The punters will also be interested in risking some money on Priceless Art, who has been running fabulously recently. He is in very good rhythm at the moment and will definitely be the one to watch out for.
The seven-year-old gelding has participated in one chase race, which he managed to win comfortably. He will be full of confidence of repeating such a show once again.
Alan Swinbank’s trained runner will be partnered by seasoned jockey, Brian Hughes, who is nearing a century of chase victories.
Compared to the top two favourites, Tahiti Pearl will have lesser chances of winning, but he cannot be completely ruled out.
