Three way battle for Mesut Özil
Chelsea have joined the race with Arsenal and Manchester City to sign Werder Breman’s attacking midfielder Mesut Özil. The German is valued at around £20million.
Valencia playmaker David Silva could also consider a move to the Premier League, with the possibility of moving to Manchester City or Chelsea. The Spanish player has previously said he wanted to stay in Spain, but could be open to a move to England.
Manchester City could sign Aston Villa’s James Milner after Villa revealed they will not offer the England man a new contract of £70,000 a week until after the World Cup.
Juventus have offered former Arsenal defender William Gallas a two-year contract.
Borussia Dortmund striker Nelson Valdez, currently at the World Cup with Paraguay, is an £8million target for Sunderland, and Schalke’s defender Heiko Westermann is also a target for manager Steve Bruce.
Palermo frontman Fabrizio Miccoli will reject an offer to go to Birmingham City and stay in Serie A.
Signing Cesc Fabrégas is not Barcelona’s top priority anymore, with Sandro Rossell, the club’s new president, and manager Pep Guardiola targeting Liverpool striker Fernando Torres. Barcelona have said they will go no higher than £40million to sign Fabrégas.
Robert Pirés could be on his way back to England, with Birmingham and Leicester City eyeing up the former Arsenal winger.
Michael Ballack could make a return to his former club Bayer Leverkusen.
