Question:

Three way conference call?

Hi - I need to make a call to two others simultaneously. All 3 of us are in 3 different countries (USA, Guatamala and Lithuania respectively - don't ask!). WHat is the best way to arrange a conference call? One of the recipients may not have internet access, I'm not sure, so if there is a facility which allows this without net access then even better. Thanks

  1. get gotomeeting.com

  2. Do it from your mobile... More expensive but easy to contact 2x land lines (or other mobiles)

Otherwise, whoever has access to land lines needs to find out if their operator supports three way calling and get the codes to activate it.

Otherwise sign up to an Teleconference Service.

  3. So long as one of you has broadband access, why not try using Voipcheap?

If the call is terminating on landlines in USA and Lithuania, there is no charge for this.

As you'll see from the link below, Skype is no longer the cheapest.

  4. If only one person has High-Speed Internet, then that 1 person can initiate a 3-way call using Skype from their PC and set-up the Conference with as many as 9 other people on PSTN land-line phones.

Skype is also your cheapest way to initiate a 3-way conference call with people on PSTN land-phones (or cells).

I have used Skype myself for Conferencing in the past from Canada to conference call to the USA, and it works really great.  I called one brother in New Mexico, USA on his PSTN land-line....and we chatted a few minutes.... then I initiated the Conference Mode and called my other brother on his PSTN land-line in Tennessee, USA..... then we all-3 conference talked for quite a while.  The call quality was excellent.  At the time I had Skype Unlimited USA calling package and the conferencing calls were all free with Skype USA Unlimited.  The service is now called SkypePro.

You can do the same thing with Skype credits only.  You don't have to have Skype Pro to do conference calling around the world.

You can also do Conference calling with Gizmo Project (now called Gizmo5).  I also use Gizmo5 and it is very similar to Skype.  Features and rates are almost identical.... so it is just a matter of personal choice as to which service you prefer.

Again, one person with Gizmo5 can initiate a conference with other people who only have PSTN land-phones or cells.

    P.S.

VoipCheap softphone does not have conferencing functionality...
