  1. me and you both. 3rd one this year. usually i go to the doctor and take antibiotics, one turned out to be a yeast infection in my throat because of antibiotics. this current one i just take dayquil and asprin. been 3 or 4 days now and i can go back to work today :)

    feel better

  2. Gargle with the saltwater for a minute...spit out... then gargle with a dissolved aspirin in sugar water as long as possible then swallow to help relieve the pain and reduce swollen tissue. Chloroseptic spray will numb it but you'll have to go buy that at the drug store.  If you look in the mirror at your throat and see white spots you have to go to the doctor and get a antibiotic, because that's an infection.

  3. I'm not sure what strep throat is, as we don't call it that in the UK, but it sounds like tonsilitis - infection of the tonsils.  The line "hurts when I swallow" is usually the key.  You'll probably notice that your tonsils (the marble-sized red fleshy things that hang down the back of your throat) are swollen and might

look redder than normal.  If they look white, then you have an infection overlaying the tonsils and need to get it sorted out fast, probably with antibiotics.  Try gargling first (see below) as it's effective and free.

One other thing it might be is glandular fever, which looks the same but doesn't respond to antibiotics.  The only fix for that is gargling (but there's a test they can do to make sure).

    Gargling instructions:

    1) make up some boiling water (it's cleaner than tap water and allows things to dissolve more easily) and put it in a mug.  2) Add two teaspoons-ful of salt and stir it until you can't see it any more.

    3) Leave to cool.

    4) When it's cool enough to drink (don't drink it!), gargle for as long as you can bear it - usually about 30 seconds.

    5) DON'T swallow it - it'll make you vomit.

Try this about 10 times in a day, making sure you leave at least half an hour in between gargles.

P.S. you're feeling cold because you have a fever, probably an infection.  Stay in bed and if you start to have chattering teeth or lots of shivering, get a doctor.

  4. im thinking strep throat, but the chills kind of throws that idea off. look in your throat in the mirror, and if there white or yellow bumps on your tonsils, its strep! def try sea salt and warm water, just gargle though, dont swallow it! it helps me all the time. other than that, search your medicine cabinet for an antibiotic, it should kick it out really quick!

  5. DON'T swallow the salt water solution.  Tilt your head back slightly and gargle for 30 seconds then spit out in sink.  Repeat as necessary with new rinse, though you will not feel immidiate relief.

I suggest the if you are still feeling cold with a sweater on, just pile blankets on on you until you fell toasty, but not completely sweltering as you could over heat you're core body temprature and start killing cells in your body  (ie. fever).

If you are also feeling achy, may I suggest taking one Tylonol once every four hours?  Never exceed more than eight a day!

Finally, this may just be one of those bugs that you'll have to wait out.  Typically when I get this pained swelling in my throat it lasts 3-5 days and when it's done I'm spry again.  Time heals all wounds!

P.S.  A doctor is also a great person to go see if you are still feeling rather concerned within the next day or two.

    Get well soon!!!
