I have a horrible pain below my right breast and beside it, its tender. I have been told it is my ribs and they are just sore. My baby has only kicked me in the ribs maybe 2 times that i can remember so how would it cause this much pain all day, its going on day 4 now. I just want to know your opinions as to why i could be feeling this pain. Its very sore and throbs sometimes. It hurts when i get up, sit down, lay down, cough, laugh, sneeze, even when i am laying on my left or right side. The pain only seems to go away if i lay on my back which triggers my legs to cramp, what do you think it is and what should i do?

  1. Your baby is probably kicking you in the ribs during the night, babies are generally nocturnal when you are pregnant, when you rest they wake up as when you are walking around etc. it sways them to sleep.

I know how painful rib kicks can be, I used to wake up so sore when I was pregnant with my daughter, there were a few times she kicked me so hard I woke up, and she was going crazy in there! Little ravers!

Unfortunately, if this is the case, there is very little you can do.

  2. I don't mean to shake you up but you really need to call your doctor.  I have higher blood pressure and am being monitored 2x a week to make sure I don't develop pre-eclampsia.  One of the warning signs they told me to look for is pain under the right breast or rib cage.  It may be totally under related but as a precaution you should probably give your doctor a call.

  3. I had a constant pain in my side as well.  The baby has probably designated that spot especially for a foot.  There isn't much room left for him/her!

  4. A friend of mine who was pregnant was experiencing similar pains and crampings, and lying down was the best way she could find to relieve it. After visiting a doctor she was told it is her body preparing for the labour, muscles that arent usually used trying to build up strength.

However, this being said, it may be best to see your doctor to just make sure. Better to be on the safe side in these situations

  5. i'm 35 weeks and my right side right under my breast is NUMB  but the kind of numb where you can still feel pain. its been going on for weeks...my baby is breech and thats where her head is..it has never left the right side. and i seriously can not wait to have her so i can back to feeling normal!!  it hurts so bad sometimes that i just want to break out in tears

  6. You should call your OB as soon as you can. It may have something to do with your milk coming in - maybe a blocked duct in your breast. Blocked milk ducts can lead to infection so you want to get it cleared up before the baby comes if that's what it is. When I was prego and had to lie on my back I used a body pillow under my knees and it helped to avoid the leg cramps and backpain. good luck
