  1. They do not push mandatories as much as the WBA or IBF does. plus when he was with Top Rank, he was able to get a good "working" relationship with the organization. if you noticed he has yet to defend his belt(oscar and ricky are not welterweights

  2. Well, the WBC gave him his first title shot back when he was just a 130-pounder against Genaro Hernandez, and I assume that he wants to be loyal to them.  However he did win the IBF title when he beat Zab Judah (somehow Judah kept the belt even though he lost to Carlos Baldomir), but he vacated it quickly thereafter.  Plus, the WBC as well as all of the other "alphabet soup" titles show favoritism toward certain fighters and promoters and Floyd is no exception, which is why I only recognize the Ring Magazine's champions as the true champs and currently Floyd also holds that title.

  3. probley because the wbc is one of the more genuine belts to have there are others like the wbu wich arent really world tittles

  4. Because the guy who runs the WBA is some guy who died a few times and they keep digging him up.  He runs the organization from an out-house somewhere in South America and, unless you're from there (or your name is John Ruiz) you cant get a shot.

The IBF has become such a joke that the WBO (title for crackhead boxers) has now become more respected.

The WBC, which could have been put out of business by some wimp named Tiazzo, remains the lesser of many evils.   Tiazzo (former WBC Jr. Middleweight champion) filed a law suit against the WBC which, had he won, would have put the orginization out of business.

He was very close to winning when Jose Suliman pulled a "Don King" and sent one of his men to offer "Toes-zees" a brief case full of low denomination bills.................In exchange for dropping the case.....................   IF only that moron knew what busting up the WBC would have done for the sport.............We could have ONE champion despite the many junior divisions.     .........

how STUPID.  Oh well, now you know why Floyd goes after the WBC belts.   The organization isnt as far down the toilet as the rest of them.

I sure hope Oscar makes good on his vow upon taking over Ring Magazine.

  5. Unifying a weight division means a h**l of a lot more then handpicking any one champion or belt in any division. The WBC belt is the oldest thats it. It`s no more respected then any other of the main three. As to the poster above me who stated Tiozzo sued the WBC and nearly bankrupted it he is incorrect. Graciano Rocchigiani sued the WBC and won 30 million dollars. He later accepted less to keep from bankrupting the organization.

As far as Floyd goes he`s a talented intelligent boxer who`s handpicked his opponents to avoid being exposed as the fraud he is when it comes to pound for pound rankings. If Floyd is the best welterweight ever Tony Tubbs is the greatest heavyweight ever.

  6. Very interesting observation, and one that I never realized.  With all the belts and titles and weight classes, I think this tidbit of info implies that Floyd thinks going with the WBC will give him the best chance to win.  I remember Duva saying some things about Suliaman, does he still run the WBC?  It certainly has a corruption stink to it, doesn't it?
