Question:

Throw the troublemakers off the City Bus?

I live in LA and take the bus everywhere, today this guy got carrying a bottle of liquior. (I don't think the driver saw it). But he had no money for fare but the driver let him on and then he started acting crazy.

He started cursing and kicking the legs of one guy, the man ignored him so then he went over to another passager and harassed him.

My Solution? I'd give cameras or cellphones to all the drivers, they would take a picture of these troublemakers and they would be posted inside every bus. If your picture is on the poster you would

be banned from using the bus. What do you think?

  1. a lot buses already do have camera installed on the bus

(its mostly to prevent insurance fraud I know of an incident

where the bus had an accident with only 5 passengers

on board yet 20 passengers claimed injuries! but this bus'

happen to have a camera caught those passengers climbing on to the bus after the accident occurred

the drivers also do have radio contact with Bus Operations

as well as a silent  alarm button as well

plus most drivers do have their cellphones with them

but remember a bus operator is NOT a law enforcement officer

they can  not enforce the law

as for your idea what happens if you just happen to be drunk

and are taking the bus home (instead of driving?)

and say a month goes by now the same person gets

    on the bus now sober?

  2. Good idea in theory, but not really practical. How is the driver going to take the picture? What if this sets the miscreant into a rage? Or worse. Many systems are installing "bus cams", they record what is going on digitally, and can be downloaded later. Maybe this will intimidate the troublemakers. But if they are acting out, then they are already irrational, and won't care.

  3. I totally know where you're coming from.  I take the bus and subway every day and at least once a week there's some type of odd behavior.  I don't know about posting the photos or automatic permanent bans, though.  Maybe fines or a temporary ban depending on the severity of the incident.

I live in Boston, and the MBTA police have recently encouraged passengers to take photos of gropers.  I guess the creeps take advantage of the crowd to avoid detection.  I think there may even be plainclothes police patrolling to watch for it now.

  4. there would be pictures all over the bus. not such a good idea.

  5. he has a good but its not that good of one, with how many people take the bus there's going to be a h**l of a lot of pictures and if there just there the buss driver may not be able to see them or there might be too many and it may cover the window its just a better way if we just get them off the bus and let the next guy worry about it
